Photography of School Children – Part 1

Black and White Photography

It has been a long time now that I started photography and it occurred to me that I never seriously tried editing my images in “black and white” or do “black and white photography”. So, I take this opportunity to showcase some of my recent photographs of school children in black and white. All these images were taken at a government school in Thindlu, Bangalore when I joined a set of NCBS students who are a part of Notebook Drive.

About Notebook Drive

Notebook Drive was originally founded in the year 2002 by a set of IISc students with the aim of reducing school dropouts from the government schools. It currently supports schools in and around Bangalore and their major activities include :

1. Distribution of notebooks and stationery items

2. Imparting English and Computer education

3. Mentorship activity (example : demonstration of scientific principles through models)

4. Identification of bright students coming from a financially weak background through a rigorous screening process, help them with scholarships and teaching them well so that they can get admission in a good college.

NCBS chapter of Notebook Drive was founded in October 2013 and the student volunteers of the group carry out distribution of notebooks and other stationery items at the Government schools in Thindlu and Kodigehalli. Please visit/like their Facebook Page or their wordpress website to know more about their work.

Because of their large number I have divided the entire photos in a series of two and I am presenting only the first set of images in this post. You can visit the second set of photographs here : black and white photographs of school children. Hope you will like my work. Please send in your comments/feedback as they are very helpful. 🙂

What is your take about Notebook Drive? Would you want to be a part of IISc/NCBS Notebook Drive and help underprivileged children in their education?
