Delayed Due to Unavoidable Circumstances

Rangmanch

Rangmanch is the theatrical/drama club of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. It was founded in the year 2009, and since then it has showcased many performances. Artists/members of the Rangmanch perform classic plays, mimes and the plays written by the members themselves. They also perform for the freshers joining IISc, anually.

Rangmanch has expanded, since its inception, and now also have students of National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), as their members. Thus, Rangmanch inarguably has the brilliant minds of the country behind its success.

Dramatics Club has performed some well known plays including ‘God’ by Woody Allen, ‘Dakghar’ by Tagore, ‘Charandas Chor’ by Habib Tanvir, and has also adapted plays from the stories of Premchand and Chekhov amongst others. Recently, the artists have performed some amazing plays written by their own members.

Delayed Due to Unavoidable Circumstances

This play was the winner in ‘Admit One, 2014’ at National law School National Theatre Fest. It was written and directed by Prabahan Chakraborty of NCBS. The play is about how, in the present world, we have taken time for granted and made a mockery of it. “It is a tale of false hopes and failed promises that stand testimony to this social blasphemy, and the eternal loop of disappointment that ensues”, says Prabahan.

Today, I will be showing some of the selected photographs of this award winning play when the artists performed it at National Centre for Biological Sciences.

I must admit that capturing this event, nicely, was a really challenging task for me as the lighting was not consistent. There were patches of sharp, focussed bulbs with several patches of darkness in between. As a photographer, I would have loved more of diffused, consistent lighting for such an awe inspiring play.

Today, I will be showing some selected photographs of the play as performed at National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore.
