Bannerghatta Biological Park, Bangalore

Bannerghatta Biological Park

Bannerghatta National Park was founded in the year 1971 and was declared as the “National Park” in 1974. A part of the national park was converted to a biological reserve and was named as Bannerghatta Biological Park. It is a popular tourist destination attracting many Indian and foreign tourists a year.

The mission of setting up this biological park is :

1. To spread awareness of the nature conservation among the people.

2. To provide natural habitat to all the birds and animals for their conservation.

3. To propagate animal conservation through educational programs and

4. To involve more and more people in ex-situ conservation by connecting them with the wild animals through welfare, care and educational practices.

Bannerghatta Biological Park provides safaris to show herbivores (deer, elephant, bear etc) and carnivores (lions, tigers etc). It also has a beautiful “Butterfly Park” and a zoo which maintains a wide variety of reptiles (snakes, monitor lizards and crocodiles), amphibians (tortoise), birds (parrots, Great Indian Hornbill, peacocks etc) and mammals (leopard, jackal, elephant, deer, Gaur etc).

Sometime back I happened to visit this beautiful place wherein I captured images of the diverse birds and animals. Today, in this post, I am presenting some selected photos that I took during the visit.
